Divina Dancewear Does the DRN
January 07, 2011
We’re making last minute tweaks to our 2011 catalog and sending it off to the printer’s this week. It’s one item in a long list of must-dos to get ready for the Dance Retailers News (DRN) Expo. As the largest dance retailer event in the country, the DRN is where retailers will get their first peak at Divina’s new fabrics and styles, and do we have a lot of new items to show! Heading to Vegas for the show? You’ll find us at the Los Vegas Convention Center's exhibit hall in booth #614, February 27-March 1 where we’re offering 10% off entire orders! You can also register to win a free pair of bootie shorts.

New "Boutique Style" Approach
In general, we think Divina fans everywhere will appreciate our new approach to more variety and limited production “boutique-style” items. By offering fabrics and prints for a limited time only, we can keep our dancers looking as fresh and original as their routines.

AC003-gathersideFor those of you who won’t be able to make it Vegas, check out the “New Items” section of the website, where you’ll find our newest fabrics and styles. Here’s a pic of my new favorite cami.

The Dance and the Dancer
December 30, 2009

“How can we know the dancer from the dance?”
—William Butler Yeats

The thought for today comes from a legendary poet. William Butler Yeats’ work is beautiful though I had never before associated him with poetry concerning dance. I quote him when he says, “How can we know the dancer from the dance?”

You may wonder what he is saying with this, so let me give my personal spin. Dance and the dancer are inseparable. Just like any other art or practice in this entire world. A dancer is completely enthralled with her art and performance. When the music is high and the dance has commenced, the audience doesn’t speak. Why? Because they are so captivated by the workmanship that is happening right before their eyes. The spectator can’t look away, and when the dance is done, the memory in the collective mind of the audience isn’t of the dancer, but of the dance.

Pure art comes when the dancer is inseparable from the dance.
